Gingerbread, which includes many new platform technologies and APIs, is highlighted by a range of new features such as its enhancements for game development, rich multimedia with support for the new formats (VP8, WebM, AAC and AMR-wideband encoding) and new forms of communication which include support for front-facing camera, SIP/VOIP, and Near Field Communications (NFC).
Folks at Android Developers has also made an introduction video of this new Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, which now live at their YouTube channel.
