Onkyo SlatePad TA117 tablet is an android based device, built based Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform, powered by the advanced 1 Ghz NVIDIA Tegra 2 250 processor, and and graphically enhanced by the NVIDIA GeForce GPU on board. The slate sports a 10.1-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 1024×600 pixels resolution and 16M color supports, a 1.3-megapixels front facing camera and offer support for multi-touch input.
Among its two models, Onkyo SlatePad model TA117C1 is equipped with 512MB installed DDR2 RAM and 8GB iNAND Flash; while the SlatePad TA117C3, offer a better performance by doubling its specs with 1GB installed DDR2 RAM and 16GB iNAND Flash. While in terms of connectivity, both models comes with Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0 port, miniUSB port and 3.5mm stereo audio jack.
Onkyo SlatePad TA117 tablet measures 267×173×14.8 mm and including its 3,650 mAh battery, weighs in at about 800 grams. The battery is rated to provides up to 6.5 hours of power, and requires 3 hours for fully recharging it. Its other notable features include an acceleromoter, light sensor, built in stereo speaker and mic, microSD card slot, media player and HTML browser.
According to the company, this tablet will be released in Japan by the end of this year --which more likely being pushed back to January, 2011. There is no information yet regarding Onkyo SlatePad's pricing nor its other regions availability.
