Chinese company, Meizu, has just launched their latest smartphone, the Meizu M9 which currently has gone live in their website.

Comes in sleek design which look similar to the iPhone, Meizu M9 measures 59.8×113.0×11.2 mm and weighs slightly lighter than the iPhone 4 at only 123g. This iPhone 4 knockoff is built with the same CPU that powers Google's Nexus S smartphone, a Samsung S5PC110 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor and comes with an Android (version 2.2, Froyo) based platform.

Meizu M9 smartphone sport a crisp 3.5-inch touchscreen display which apparently is the same screen used in Sharp IS03. This display has 640×960 pixels resolution and 16M color support, featuring built-in accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and multi-touch capable as well.

This smartphone also packs a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with HD video recording support on the back --which unfortunately, seems have no LED flash attached.

Meizu M9 feature support for a wide range of mobile networks and technologies such as GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA as well as 7.2Mbps HSDPA (3/3.5G). It comes with a built in GPS, and for the ease of connectivity, M9 also include Wi-Fi/WAPI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP support, Mini USB2.0 port and 3.5-mm stereo headphone jack.

As Meizu itself is known as a famous portable media player manufacturer, you can expect that a media player for both audio (FLAC, APE, MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC) and video (AVI, MP4, 3GP, MOV, MKV, FLV) as well as viewer for images (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF) is present within Meizu M9's feature list.

Meizu M9 smartphone will be offered in two models. The one with 8GB of internal memory will cost about $375, while the 16GB model is about $405. Both of them offer a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and a removable 1370mAh lithium-ion battery.

Meizu's CEO, Jack Wong states that Meizu M9 will be available starting December 25th in several Chinese major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Wider market availability will be following “in a few days” after it officially launched.
