MetroPCS has just announced that Huawei Ascend smartphone is accompanying the LG Optimus M in their android smartphones portfolio starting today.

Huawei Ascend (model: HW-M860), which is MetroPCS’ second android handset, is an affordable smartphone running Android 2.1 (Éclair) operating system. This CDMA handset is equipped with 600 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM inside its 4.57×2.44×0.55 inches measured case.

The intuitive OS and nine customizable home screens make it easy to organize and get quick access to widgets, shortcuts, apps and social networks, and users can update their Facebook status or Tweet from the home screen.

Huawei Ascend sports a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display with accelerometer for UI auto-rotate as well as onscreen QWERTY keyboard for easy text input. Spec-wise, this smartphone features a 3.2 MP camera with video recording, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, built in GPS, multimedia player, microSD slot, microUSB 2.0 and HTML browser.

MetroPCS’ Huawei Ascend runs on CDMA 1x 800/1900 MHz and AWS Band 1700/2100 MHz. This phone also offer supports for 1xEV-DO rev.A hi-speed data bearer as well. Including its 1,500 mAh battery which can offer up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 250 hours of standby time, this phone weighs in at 4.76 oz.

Currently, this phone is already available in MetroPCS stores and online. With smartphone plans starting at $50 per month with no annual contract, the Huawei Ascend is priced at $179.
