Fix for Samsung Intercept Units Bricked by Sprint Froyo Update is Available

If you're Sprint's subscribers with Samsung Intercept smartphone and your device has been bricked since installing the Android 2.2 Froyo update on it.. maybe this is a good news for you :) Folks at XDA Developer, to be exact, user Whosdaman, has came out with a fix sent by his district manager in Sprint via email.

The fix file, namely update.zip, has been uploaded by the nice fellow to multiupload, and can be downloaded here. The software update was tagged with version number S:M910.05.S.DL05, while the build version is Froyo.DL05.

Step by step for fix
First of all, make sure that your Intercept has enough battery to completely finish the install, at least more than 50%... plugging it when installing the fix will be better.
  1. Download the fix, and save it to an SD card
  2. Put the SD card in your bricked Samsung Intercept
  3. Remove the battery and then put it back in
  4. Hold Volume Down, Talk and End until “Android system recovery” screen comes up
  5. Scroll down to the second option “apply sdcard:update.zip”
  6. Press enter and wait for about ten minutes while the phone fixes itself and restarts

And.. done :)

Please note that
  • Only users who have attempted to upgrade their Samsung Intercept and already have Android 2.2 Froyo on their bricked devices are eligible for this fix.
  • This fix has been tested multiple times with no ill effects, however, do this at your own risk. At this point, there is nothing to lose if the phone is already frozen.
  • All of the customers info should still be there provided you didn’t try to do a factory reset in attempts to fix it first.
