Sprint has just officially announced the upcoming availability of ZTE PEEL™, a unique device that cradles 2nd and 3rd generation iPod touch with a case-like form factor, enabling them to get the advantage of Sprint’s 3G network.
Using it is quite easy; There is no software installation required. Simply slide any compatible iPod touch (screen face out) into ZTE PEEL, press down on both sides until it clicks into place, then turn it on by pressing PEEL's power button which located on its back to connect to Sprint’s 3G network.
The ZTE PEEL won't make your iPod touch seems too bulky, less than an inch, it measures 4.8×2.62×.86 inches. It weighs 3.2oz. And as it self powered with a 900 mAH Li-Ion battery, this device isn't going to drain your iPod touch's battery. PEEL's battery is rated to be able to provides up to 3 hours of active use time.
In addition, ZTE PEEL also comes with universal Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) compatibility, allowing up to two Wi-Fi enabled devices to be connected at the same time. It compatible with both Windows OS (7, Vista and XP) and Macintosh OS (10.5 and 10.6); and include advanced security through WEP (64 Bit, both open or shared) as well.
According to Sprint’s official PR, ZTE PEEL will be available beginning Sunday, Nov. 14, and it will going for a price of for $79.99 (taxes excluded). Service plan offered (up to 1GB) cost $29/mo.
