Motorola i1 Android Smartphone With Nextel Direct Connect

Sprint officially announced the upcoming availability of Motorola i1 into their handsets line-up. This handset will be available first on Sunday, July 25, through direct ship sales channels for $149.99 with two-year service agreement --after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Categorized as a rugged handset, the Motorola i1 comes in a solid body construction that meets military specifications for protection against dust, shock, vibration and blowing rain. The handset measures 58 x 118 x 12.8 mm and weighs 131 grams.

Motorola i1 sports a large 3.1-inches HVGA (320x480 pixels) touchscreen display as well as 5 MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash. For the ease of navigation, along with its Swype virtual on-screen keyboard, this iDEN smartphone comes with an integrated 5-way navigation and dedicated keys for speakerphone, volume control, camera, Push-to-Talk (PTT), back, menu, home and lock.

Touted as the world's first Nextel Direct Connect smartphone powered by Android, Motorola i4 is loaded with Android 1.5 operating system. WiFi, Bluetooth and microUSB are present; while for an enhanced browsing experience, it comes preloaded with Opera mini browser (enhanced browsing experience) and Android Webkit w/Adobe Flash Lite support.

Motorola i1 other features include a microSD slot (supports up to 32 GB microSD), aGPS (assisted), AGPS (autonomous), eCompass and multimedia player w/ 2.5mm audio jack. Its standard included battery is 1400 mAh Li Ion, capable to provides up to 100 hours of standby time.
