Samsung has confirmed that they will be bringing their latest PMP device, an android-based Samsung Galaxy Player (model YP-GB1), in Las Vegas CES 2011.
Samsung Galaxy Player is basically a Galaxy S, minus the cellular connectivity. This device sports a 4-inch Super Clear LCD display with 800×480 pixels resolution, a VGA front facing camera and 3.2 MP auto focus snapper with flash on the back. Inside, Galaxy Player YP-GB1 is powered with a 1GHz S5PC111 processor. This 9.9mm thick PMP runs on Android 2.2 Froyo OS, replete with Samsung's TouchWiz layer.
In terms of specs, Samsung Galaxy Player packs Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, built in GPS, microSD card slot for storage expansion and SoundAlive audio enhancing technology. T-DMB support is also present on its features list, along with Android Market and Samsung Apps access.
Based on its storage capacity, Samsung Galaxy Player (YP-GB1) will be available in three models: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. Its standard battery is 1200mAh rechargeable li-ion. It measures 64.2×123.7×9.9 mm and including its removable battery, the PMP weighs in at 121 grams.
In addition to Samsung Galaxy Player (model YP-GB1), the company is also expected to show other Android PMPs like YP-G50 and hopefully the recently certified YP-GB70 at CES 2011 next month.
