Codenamed as Thunder, the Dell Venue comes with Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, enhanced by Dell's own Stage user interface. And just like its cousin Venue Pro, this monoblock smartphone uses the same Gorilla Glass protected 4.1" WVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 800×480 pixels resolution, 24 bit mode, 16M colors color support. Venue also packs a rear-facing 8-megapixels autofocus camera with integrated LED flash.
At heart, Dell Venue is equipped with 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor, 512MB installed RAM and 1GB of ROM. Storage expansion is offered via its micro SD slot which support up to 32GB card. The device runs on quad-band 2G netwotks and support 3G networks, 850/2100/2300 Mhz or 900/1700/2100 Mhz.
Based on Dell's new Stage User Interface (UI) and coupled with Dell's Own Shear Design Concept, the Venue is the perfect companion for trend-setting creative junkies as well as business professionals who are always on-the-go.
In terms of technical specs, this Froyo-running Dell Venue features 7.2Mbps HSDPA support, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) connectivity, Bluetooth 2.3 EDR with A2DP support, built in GPS with A-GPS support, media player with FM radio and 3.5mm stereo audio jack, Web 2.0 full HTML browser and microUSB 2.0 port. The smartphone measures 121×64×12.9 mm, weighs in at 164 grams, and comes standard with a 1400 mAh rechargeable li-ion battery.
According to Dell, the Venue android smartphone is available immediately in Hong Kong for HK$3,999 (about $514). Unfortunately, there's no information yet on when it will hit the stores in other regions. Stay tuned.
