On the first impression, the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 is pretty much the same as Onyx (BlackBerry Bold 9780). This smartphone sports a 2.44" TFT display with 480 x 360 pixels resolution and 65K colors, an optical trackpad and a full QWERTY keypad. Same size at 109 x 60 x 14 mm and same weight as well at 122 g. Yet, don't let this facts disappoint you, it's only a quickie look.
BlackBerry Bold 9780 runs on quad-band GSM with 3G network support for 7.2Mbps HSDPA, an improvement founded :) Inside, although the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is powered with the same processor, a 624 MHz, its installed RAM is multiplied twice at 512MB, giving enough power to runs the brand new BlackBerry 6 operating system. This Bold also includes 512 MB Flash memory.
Additional features of BlackBerry 6 include expanded messaging capabilities with intuitive features to simplify the management of social networking and RSS feeds (Social Feeds), and integrated access to BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger), Facebook®, Twitter™, MySpace™ and various instant messaging applications on the BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone.
BlackBerry Bold 9780 also comes with a better imaging device than its predecessor; 5 megapixels autofocus camera (w/ LED flash) featuring image stabilizer and digital zoom.
Its other features are Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi connectivity, micro USB port, microSD slot (support up to 32GB), GPS (Assisted, autonomous and simultaneous), BlackBerry Browser which includes tabs for accessing multiple sites, multi media player and 3.5mm audio jack. The included battery is capable to provides up to 17 days of standby time in 3G network.
Acording to RIM, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone will be available from various carriers around the world beginning in November. No pricing informed yet.
