Orange has just unveiled their own-branded android smartphone today, dubbed as Orange San Francisco. This handset is originally manufactured by ZTE (codenamed as ZTE Blade).
Orange San Francisco is built based on Android platform, running Android version 2.1 (Eclair) OS and core powered by the combination of a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and 256 MB installed RAM onboard, along with 512 MB ROM --with 150MB of user-accessible internal storage. It sports a fairly large, 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display with WVGA (480×800 pixels) resolution and 262K colors support; while at back, it has an integrated 3.2-megapixels auto-focus snapper.
This Orange's android running smatphone is works with GSM networks (900/1800/1900 Mhz), UMTS (900/2100 Mhz) and support HSPA technology (3G+), 7.2Mbps HSDPA as well as 5.76Mbps HSUPA. Orange San Francisco also packs a decent connectivity features with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, microUSB 2.0 port and standard 3.5 mm stereo audio jack.
In terms of hardware, this android-running handset is equipped with built-in accelerometer, digital compass, GPS with A-GPS support, FM radio with RDS and a microSD slot for storage expansion with support for up to 32GB card. While in terms of apps, Orange San Francisco features Orange Maps, Orange Messenger by Windows Live, Orange App Store, Email, Orange Wednesdays, HTML browser and media player.
Orange San Francisco smartphone comes in a sleek and stylish grey colored housing, measures 116×56.5×11.8 mm and weighs in at 130grams. Its standard included battery is 1250 mAh li-ion, which should provides up to 4 hours of talk time or up to 9 days of standby time.
The company said that the San Francisco handset is the first in a series of new affordable Android devices to be ranged from Orange in the UK. This smartphone, is offered at only £99 (about $154) on Orange pay as you go.
