Today, Sprint has officially announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Epic 4G smartphone.
Samsung Epic 4 is an Android™ 2.1 based handset, powered with 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor; featuring a slide-out, full QWERTY keyboard and 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display. This 1500 mAh Li-ion powered smartphone also comes with 5MP autofocus camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB port and microSD slot supporting up to 32GB card.
We wont post Samsung Epic 4G details (and pics) here as we already wrote about it last month; However, there are few things that haven't been covered before such as that Sprint’s Epic 4G’s OS upgrading plans, pricing and availability.
According to the Sprint’s official PR, Sprint plans to upgrade Samsung Epic 4G to Android 2.2 in the coming months. With this Android 2.2 upgrade, customers can expect their Epic 4G will get an improved EAS support, improved browser performance, including Flash 10x support, voice dialing over Bluetooth and application storage on external memory.
This Samsung Epic 4G which once appeared in Sprint’s handsets fact sheet page as their second 4G capable device, will be available beginning Tuesday, August 31, in all Sprint retail channels; priced at $249.99 with two-year service agreement, after a $100 mail-in rebate (taxes excluded).
