The BlackBerry Curve 8530, which also known as BlackBerry Aries 8530, is a dual band CDMA handset with support for 1xEV-DO rev.0 hi-speed data bearer. Housed in a sleek 4.29×2.36×0.55 inches measured case, this smartphone sports a 320×240 pixel color display, optical trackpad and the signatured BlackBerry QWERTY keypad at front, and 2 MP digital camera with zoom and video recording located at back.

This BlackBerry OS 5.0-running smartphone is equipped with a 528 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, built in GPS, microSD slot for storage expansion, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0 port. In addition, Curve 8530 also features media player for enjoying pictures, music and videos, plus dedicated media keys integrated, along with its 3.5 mm audio jack.
This MetroPCS' $60 BlackBerry service plan will offer an additional value and features, including:
- Messaging capabilities through popular IM services and BlackBerry Messenger, as well as social media networks
- Access to the latest content such as games, ringtones and wallpapers through the @Metro App Store and BlackBerry App World
- Applications only available through MetroPCS include Metro Navigator, Metro Back-up, Premium Directory Assistance and Metro Banking
